Wirral prove a tough test
By Rob Huxley
A very strong away team get the upper hand in the first game of the season.
The under 13's came up against a strong Wirral team at home this Sunday.
The format was an hour of rugby split into 3 thirds. A good twenty lads turned out including a few new players to us, mostly from Market Drayton, a welcome addition to our squad.
As per the norm we started slowly. Wirral Won the first third 2-0. Whitchurch were however held up a couple of times on the try line and had the ball turned over, otherwise the result could have been different.
The second third was no better, losing by 3-0. This was a rather more unfamiliar period of missed tackles on a very good individual in the Wirral ranks.
The third period was much better. After going one try down, we finally rallied. Two tries from Charlie put the boys ahead only to be pegged back again to 2-2. A last ditch try from Jack won the period to at least give the u 13's some success on a very hard morning.
First game of the season, heads up, on to Chester.
