Thankful to the few

Depleted team secure win
After securing a late fixture against Stoke a depleted team travelled to the away fixture with only 14 boys. This is the first time we've struggled to field a team for a number of years - partly due to half terms but also potentially due to an age group issue where other commitments pull on the boy's time.
The team started strongly against an organised Stoke team that clearly had some experienced and quality players. Unfortunately it did however take Whitchurch some time to 'wake up' and although they had the lions share of possession some sill mistakes crept in which meant we were unable to capitalise.
Despite a stop lead at half time the Stoke team cam back strongly in the second half and really put Whitchurch under pressure and scored some well worked tries. It did make me wonder whether we would have won the game if Stoke had played like that from the off?
Anyway, a good win with a team of 14 and thanks to Stoke for lending us some players. Plenty to work on, however I'm confident that if we can iron out the silly mistakes we will be a hard team to beat.
